Yasss. Welcome! I'm (really) excited that you're here, and honored you have chosen to trust me with your shop. As a creative small business owner, you likely feel the tension between where you want your shop to be, and where it currently is. This tension is natural, and the Masterclass is designed to bridge that gap. Whether you're just starting out, or you're looking to bring your shop to the next level, you're in the right place. When I started DeBrosse in 2013, there was no resource that detailed how to build a knitwear shop from 0 to 100,000 sales, gross 6 figures in annual revenue, or pursue it as a full-time job. In fact, my husband thought it was a little crazy that I would try to carve out space for myself in a crowded market. But I did, and now I'm sharing with you exactly how I did it. This Masterclass is designed to include everything I wish I knew when I started, and everything I'm applying in my business today. I'm confident that if you work through and diligently apply these concepts, you will see your shop flourish in a way you haven't before. Earning your first 10,000 sales will be the hardest thing you do as a small business owner, but that milestone is within reach. Proof in the Numbers Sharing all my tips, tricks, and insights in this Masterclass wouldn't mean anything if I couldn't prove that they actually worked. Below you'll find my history of gross revenue. Notice the upward trajectory starting in 2015, which marks the first year that I introduced intentional strategy into DeBrosse, allowing me to go full-time as soon as 2016, and begin earning more than my prior salary as a designer as soon as 2017. The Masterclass modules are designed to help you implement these same exact strategies, including but not limited to: harnessing the power of Instagram, shooting high quality photos, creating strong listings, and expanding your offerings. YES, you'll see those numbers start to taper in 2020. Here's whats happening behind the scenes: In 2019, my book launched in 2019 which created exponential but temporary growth. In 2021, I took 4 months of maternity leave, and decided to opt out of social media. In 2022, I transitioned to being a full-time mom, only working during baby naptimes, AND took another 4 months of maternity leave with baby number 2. In summary, I moved from working ~45 hours a week 12 months out of the year, to working ~10 hours a week 8 months out of the year, and my gross revenue remains largely unchanged (though of course, not growing), as a direct result of the passive income strategies outlined in this course. All strategies are based on my own personal experiences, research, and findings. As you implement these in your own shop, it will be important to run every framework through your own filter, prior experiences, and desired outcomes. Coming Up The Masterclass is divided into 5 main sections: Prepare, Build, Execute, Grow and Diversify. Every section is packed with content designed to add value to both the brand new and not-so-new businesses. My hope is that every section allows you to improve on current weaknesses, execute on missed opportunities, and capitalize on natural strengths. I live in New York City with my husband Steven, who graciously accepts my yarn obsession. My background is in graphic design, and I was a brand designer and strategist for 6 years before going full-time on my own business. I first learned to crochet so that I could make blankets for boys and girls growing up in the orphanages of Haiti. One of my first blankets went to a bright-eyed 4 year old boy named DeBrosse. He is as mischievous as he is lovable, and his story forever changed the way I see the world. I opened this shop in his name, setting aside a portion of all proceeds to help fund our three partner orphanages. Your money works to do things like provide educational stipends for vulnerable children, small business loans for their parents, and a little bit of everything in between. DeBrosse started as a way to serve marginalized children, but as I became immersed in the maker community, it presented new opportunities to serve those around me. I consider it a total honor and privilege to be invited into your shops. Let's do this!
